Kohrra
It is said that when characters have to evolve and the story must not be rushed, it is possible in a book. Given the limited time we have in movies, storytelling has to be rushed most of the time, but that is where web series come into play. Good cinema makers give time to their characters, and the story is a slow burn, but the viewer does not get stung by the slowness.
Kohrra is such an understated series, it is a good example of cinema made with heart in this genre in recent times.
Tight writing
It explored the nook and corner of the characters, having ample twists for a thriller yet not overdoing it. It did not move away from the cultural background of the place it was set in. Layers of the story do not make the audience yawn it keeps us hooked. There are long scenes where we get a jolt, among all these jolts runs through smooth stories. Parallel story of a mystery and personal lives run along and complement each other. I would like to say that the premise and characters are broken at so many levels but the story is perfectly sewed together without any gaping holes.
Satisfying
Watching the story and characters slowly unfolding in front of you is satisfying, there is no hurry in reaching the end, and you get to soak in the reality. Every character has a story to tell, they have their own past and present. It flows seamlessly from Paatallok but at a lesser pace.
Human drama
Some of the times while watching I felt that is it really about the murder mystery or investigating the relationships. It is done beautifully, however, both of them.
Gloomily shot
To keep it with the theme and of course the name, it uses the winters of Punjab to perfection and uses foggy mornings, hazy afternoons, and chilly nights to its use.
Cast and acting
Balbir Singh is the highlight for this, played by Suvinder Vicky, the character is brilliantly written. Have spent his life being a cop, and always has followed orders but he preaches to always do the right thing. He is a drunkard and does not stop himself from hitting his wife and daughter. Tries to find warmth outside the house. I mean there are so many facets of this. And then there are other characters as well do not pale and play their characters beautifully. And each one of them have their own stories.
