“Sent from iPhone” You must have seen this a lot of times when someone sends you a message/email from iPhone. But it is always spelled right, isn’t it? However, this is not in this series and messages are not sent from iPhone.

Did I like the series, yes of course but do I feel bad for Donny? I will let you decide if you are watching it.

Nuanced

When one chooses to make a series, then the maker gets a chance to bring in more detail to their story but most often they do get lost because storytelling is not easy. But this is where Baby Reindeer wins the game. Right from scene 1 it gets going. Each scene is so nuanced, that there is no rush to end the scene. There is proper narration with the protagonist's voice being such good. I must say the story is complex, however, you will not be feeling bored when you are being presented with details you would not want to blink an eye.

Showing the perspectives

Any story in real life does not have one perspective, any character in cinema does not have one side to it which we are often shown. But not in Baby Reindeer. It so beautifully or must say creepily shows why is Martha a stalker, worse than that why is Donny getting stalked and not reporting to the police? You will see that cinema which shows both perspectives is a winner.

Actors in the skin of the character

Martha and Donny kill it, when we start hating Martha and feel for Donny, you know what level of acting they have done. We have been conditioned to think that to be a lead character in cinema one has to be good-looking, and recently also must have six-pack abs. But I think you have to be good at acting the character you are given to be an actor. Not only Donny and Martha are good everyone else is also fabulous. Scottish father of Donny, his girlfriend, his ex’s mother, and some more people which I will not name to avoid giving out the spoilers.

Dark to the core

It is so chillingly dark, so rivetingly told that when I am writing this piece I am getting goosebumps. It feels like a cold winter night with no one on the road you are walking. There is no dearth of dark series or movies, it is one of the favorite kinds of themes nowadays, most of them make a mockery of the theme though. Baby Reindeer takes it to another level, it is an ornament to the theme.

It is a Netflix original so you can get to watch it if you decide to. It is such a wonderful thing, cinema.
